When we are looking to fill a vacancy here at Thorndene, here’s where to look.

Finding a job or career in the care sector, particularly working in an environment for people with disabilites can be very rewarding. We may have vacancies in any of the fields of expertise which a busy home like ours enjoys. Here is what we have available currently.

Board of Directors

 

Could you lend your time and skills to help lead a very special care home for the learning disabled?

Thorndene was founded in 1992 to provide residential care for adults with learning disabilities. It enjoys a beautiful countryside location, a few miles from Folkestone in Kent. Thorndene has up to seventeen residents, and provides full residential care as well as Supported Living. Set in extensive grounds, it is a peaceful and comfortable home for its residents.

Thorndene is a Limited Company, but its ethos is charitable and it operates as a non-profit organisation. In this our 30th year, we are looking to strengthen our Board of Directors, by appointing one or two individuals who can offer relevant skills and experience. We are particularly keen to hear from you if you have experience in one of the following areas:

• Law
• Accountancy
• Care/Health sector

Membership of the Board of Directors of Thorndene is highly rewarding, and provides the opportunity to make an important and valuable contribution to the community, and to the company’s future.

This is a part-time, voluntary role, requiring a few hours per month mainly working from home.

Night care assistant

 

You will be providing personal care to our residents through a variety of tasks. Your care will make a real difference to their lives and we are looking for an individual who has the ability, skills and passion to assist our residents and take pride in their work. If you would like to make a positive difference in someone’s life and are compassionate and caring towards people, you may be the person we are looking for.

Who are we looking for? You will need the following skills and qualities:

· Level 2 Qualification in Health & Social Care, but not essential.
· Have a strong interest working in care and a desire to make a difference.
· Be enthusiastic, caring friendly and compassionate.
· A team player.
· Be reliable and have a fexible approach to your working pattern.
· Buddy sytem for all new candidates and internal training given.

The shift patterns are:
7pm -7am as this role will be prodminately to support one resident. There will be two other carers on the shift, so in total three on a shift to support our wonderful residents.

The role is subject to the relevant disclosure check being obtained from the Disclosure and Barring Service. Thorndene is an equal opportunities employer.
