Whether in a residential home or supported living environment people with disabilities have the same right as everyone else to access the wider community. Thorndene facilitates this for those we support by providing access to activities chosen by them. This support includes making arrangements with individuals to assist them in making necessary plans as well as organising transport and staffing support where necessary.
Those we support chose to attend a wide range of day centres as well as community facilities such as the gym, swimming pool, cinema club, theatre etc. Community inclusion includes many residents attending church every week, individual memberships of clubs and societies (according to individual choice) and the opportunity to take part in community events organised by external centres.
Thorndene is located in Swingfield, situated in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It’s location is ideally situated to provide access to the major towns of East Kent. This allows those we support to have greater choice and freedom to live their lives to the fullest.Thorndene also provides support for trips further afield with short breaks and holidays organised according to individual preferences.
